Home / Sell a Business

Sell your business for what it is worth.

I have sold my own businesses, including an asset sale with SBA financing. I know what it takes to get a business ready, find the right buyer, and get the deal to the closing table, and what it feels like to be the owner on the other side of it.

Services

Get ready. Then sell it right.

Every engagement starts with a free call. Work is done by video nationwide, or in person in Idaho's Treasure Valley.

The eight value drivers

What buyers actually pay for.

Two businesses with the same profit can sell for very different prices. These eight factors explain most of the gap, and they are what I focus on in every Exit Readiness Assessment and every listing. Improving them pays off whether you sell next year or in ten.

Owner dependence

Can the business run for 30 days without you? Buyers discount hard when it cannot.

Recurring revenue

Memberships, contracts, and repeat customers are worth more than one time sales.

Customer concentration

If a few customers drive most of your revenue, buyers see risk.

Clean financials

Books a lender can verify, with add-backs that hold up under review.

Documented systems

Written processes a new owner and team can follow from day one.

Team stability

A team that stays through the sale and is not tied to one key person.

Transferability

Leases, contracts, licenses, and franchise approvals that move cleanly to a buyer.

Growth and margins

A believable growth story with healthy, steady margins behind it.

How it works

From first call to closing.

Step 1

Free valuation call

We talk through the business, your goals, and your timeline. You leave with a realistic sense of what it could sell for and what would raise that number.

Step 2

Prepare and market

We tighten the financials and the story, then take the business to qualified buyers confidentially.

Step 3

Negotiate and close

I handle the back and forth on price and terms, and keep diligence, lenders, and attorneys moving until the deal closes.

Questions

Common questions from sellers.

What do you charge to sell my business?

Brokerage is commission based, as a percentage of the sale price. I quote it after a free valuation call, once I understand the business. If you complete an Exit Readiness Assessment first, that fee is credited toward my commission when you list with me.

How long does it take to sell?

Most small business sales take six to twelve months from listing to closing. Getting ready first usually shortens that and raises the price.

Will my employees and customers find out?

Not from me. Buyers are screened and sign a confidentiality agreement before they learn the name of your business.

What if my business includes real estate?

I work alongside a licensed real estate broker on the property side of the deal, so the whole sale moves together.

I already have a broker. Can you still help?

Yes. An Exit Readiness Assessment can get you ready to list, and I am happy to work alongside your broker.

Can you represent both the buyer and the seller?

No. On any deal, I represent one side only.
